Abstract: This study seeks to discover the logical process that professional and semiprofessional players build up in order to professionalize 🌈 their poker player careers and to classify the game as a sport, counterposed to games of chance.

Focusing on the analysis 🌈 of a Brazilian player´s discourses, in parallel with the ones of an American player, the aim is to understand, firstly, 🌈 how the notion of " sport " is developed to embody and qualify professional poker, distancing it from games of 🌈 chance; secondly, how the notion of " profession " is framed as cause and consequence of the movement of poker´s 🌈 sportivization; and thirdly how the category " expertise " is drawn up to characterize no only the game – sport 🌈 – itself, but also the player´s identity, in a classificatory cyclic movement.

Resumo: Este estudo tenta elucidar a lógica que jogadores 🌈 profissionais e semiprofissionais constroem no sentido de profissionalizar a carreira de jogador de poker e no de classificá-lo como um 🌈 esporte, contraposto aos jogos de azar.

Este torneio foi realizado entre julho e dezembro de 2010 no Japão.

Manchester United 1999–2000 football season
